The progression of a handle

I left this beech outside for half a year, it’s the copper beech I got from Oxfordshire. It’s got some nice spalting of where the different fungy met.

The lamb’s tongue is very refined on this model

The blank has been riven with the froe and then hewn flat with the axe to get flecking on both sides.

Oiled with linseed oil mixed with turpentine for the colour, then shellac and finished with Osmo poly oil.
