This R. Groves backsaw is refined to late 1800’s high quality standards. It was made during the early 1900’s , the period when quality gradually started to decline. Plates got thicker and handles became boxier. The plate has been replaced with a good quality S&J thinner .020 plate and the handle has been reshaped to follow the lines of the earlier R. Groves models.
The size S handle is made for a hand measuring between 3 3/8″ and 3 5/8″ across the palm. Click here on how to measure your hand.
The uts are sanded flush and the handle is finished with 3 layers of shellac and then waxed. Depth under the plate 2 5/16″. The pitch is 15 PPI and will be filed to your preferred pattern , rip hybrid or cross cut.
